Pocket diapers are a new trend from the USA. A diaper is similar to a two-ply cover, that has an opening in the back. Here you can insert an absorbing cloth diaper. You can use everything, that is absorbent: prefolds, muslins, terry cloths, diaper inserts, and even old towels. The absorbency of the pocket diaper depends on the absorbency of the insert.
Pocket diapers are available in laminated microfibre or tight fleece. The inner layer is made of thin fleece, that keeps baby's skin dry and leads the wetness inside the diaper.
Prefolds are nappies, that do not have a closure device. A cover is needed to fix the nappy. Handling is quite easy, though leaks are possible, and depend on the parent's skill.
The drying times vary, depending on the product.
